Pull-Up Banners: An Exhibitor''s Best Friend

Each weekend thousands, maybe even millions, of business men and women travel by air, car, train, subway, and bus to market their products and services at 100''s of exhibit halls and tradeshows all over the United States.

Whether it is a one man operation setting up a display at a local craft fair or a representative of a Fortune 500 company setting up a booth at a mega-show in New York City, they all have the same goal in mind - to set up a professional exhibit that clearly and effectively markets their product or service.

Anyone who has ever traveled to set up any kind of exhibit or tradeshow display knows how difficult it can be develop a portable, affordable and professional booth. Not everyone has the budget to have booths shipped or flown in and set up by expensive exhibit service union crews. Some of us have to load our booth in the car or plane or bus or taxi, walk it into the exhibit hall, set it up and STILL make it look professional. As many of you know, this is no easy task.

This article will feature one particular product that can make a huge difference in alleviating so much of the frustration that comes with trying to finding portable, affordable and professional display components for exhibits and events - the Pull-Up Banner Stand.

Pull-Up Banners, also known as Roll-Up Banners, Pop-Up Banner Stands and Retractable Banner Displays, are a traveling exhibitor''s best friend. A Pull-Up Banner Stand is made so that a banner that is usually about 33" wide x 80" tall can be retracted by rolling up into an aluminum housing that serves at the banner stand base. Roll-Up Banners are light-weight, typically weighing in less than 6 lbs. Because they are so compact and light-weight, they are extremely portable. Most Pop-Up Banners have optional carrying cases with shoulder straps that make toting them aro und a breeze. The best feature about Pull-Up Banners, however, is the bang for your buck. They are really affordable. At http://www.custombannerlab.com for example, a Pull-Up Banner Stand can be purchased for $199 and that includes a FREE canvas carrying case. For a display product that is portable, durable, reusable and actually quite large when fully expanded - Pull-Up Banners are well worth the money.

Over the past few years, Roll-Up Banner Stands have become extremely popular. The modern exhibitor''s need for a portable, light-weight , easy and professional display solution has driven manufacturers to develop many different styles and sizes of Pull-Up Retractable Banner Displays. Pull-Up Banners are now even available in sustainable green bamboo editions.

So the next time you need a display solution that won''t break the BANK or your BACK, consider a Pull-Up Banner Stand from http://www.custombannerlab.com.

Total Productive Maintenance: A very important massages from Operator.

In a plant we will found important information that normally we calling their wining. Listening to our people from down below is very important in Total Productive Maintenance to help it run effectively.

Below are the list of that normally we heard from operator when they cannot achieved targeted volume and good quality product.

1) Too many job load, although it succeed in the early stage but as the time passed by it become meaningless.

2) Imbalance job load, he think he is doing more job,

3) Machine suddenly breakdown and cause downtime to everyday operation,

4) Difficult to make early day job preparation, job is different among operator,

5) When machine is always trouble, a lot of inspection need to be performed and take a lot of time everyday,

6) Lack of confident from the instruction from superior, afraid that the problem will happen again.

7) Nasty environment such as oil on the floor and easily become dirty. 8) Tool not properly arrange and takes time to search.

9) A lot of cleaning needs to be done after end of work.

10) Forgotten to do a correct job - no operation procedure.

11) Noisy, too hot or too cold and smelly environment that is unacceptable cause low spirit to perform job at their best.

Therefore in order to reduce such problem from your operator, works need to be done to bring this operator to achieve your company target. There are three main tasks:

1) Ensure the machines operate at high efficiency and reliable from maintenance operator or production operator.

2) Provide a good and healthy environment so the operator becomes comfortable and confident.

3) Lastly ensure that the entire task given to operator can be performed without any interruption.

Total Productive Maintenance shall provide you a method and vision to the main three main tasks as mention above. Total Productive Maintenance has created a lot of development and improvement as a foundation to others manufacturing systems.

mate tooling

Adding a single application-specific tool to a punch press fabricating project can have a huge impact on part cost. But it often takes insight into all of the operations involved in the fabricating process to calculate the true bottom line benefits that justify its purchase and use. Bayview Metals is an ISO 9001:2000 certified precision sheet metal fabricator serving the electronics and military industries where competition is keen and innovation is required to stay in the race for new part projects. With 27 employees, everyone is expected to make contributions to keep the company competitive. In the punching area, Richardson and his fellow employees do it by finding new ways to reduce punch press cycle time and eliminate secondary operations. As a longtime user of Mate tooling, Richardson regularly checks with Peter Visser, Mate sales engineer, on new tools and ideas for improving fabricating operations. When seeing how the shields needed a secondary operation to remove the micro joint burrs, Visser suggested Mate''s EasySnap tooling as a way to eliminate the burrs. EasySnap does the work of a conventional parting tool without actually separating the part from the sheet. EasySnap partially slits the part edges, leaving just enough material to hold the part in the sheet. Once the entire sheet is punched and removed from the press, individual parts can be quickly and easily snapped apart by hand and without any tools. Part edges are consistently clean and there are no burrs or other unwanted "pips" such as those left by the micro joints, said Mate. The EasySnap tool operates differently than a standard parting tool. EasySnap has a linear V-line stencil machined onto the face of the upper and lower tools. As the tools penetrate the sheet, they create a line of weakness (a snap line) in the upper and lower surfaces of the sheet material. Once the outer shape of the part is punched, the part can be quickly and easily bent and snapped loose from the rest of the sheet. The continuous nature of the EasySnap tool design is intended to allow the length of the snap-line up to a maximum suggested length of 12-inches (300mm). The actual depth of the tool penetration and force required to bend and snap the part loose is dependent on the ductility and thickness of the material being punched. For Bayview Metals'' 0.033-inch (.084 mm) thick steel application, the EasySnap tool was suitable. Richardson recognized an additional benefit using the Easy Snap tool. It allowed him to add another row of parts to each sheet by eliminating the 0.250-inch (6.35 mm) of scrap left between parts using the conventional parting tool. Instead of 24 parts per sheet (four rows of six parts), Richardson could punch 28 parts per sheet (four rows of seven parts) in a 33- x 48-inch (838.2 x 1219.2 mm) steel sheet. Each part measured 7.408- x 6.218-inch (188.16 x 157.94 mm). With more parts and less scrap per sheet, the material savings alone were very s ignificant. On a typical part run of 5,000 parts, Richardson reported material savings amounted to approximately 20 percent. Because the Mate Easy Snap is application specific, Richardson had to convince himself and management that the tool would indeed effect measurable savings beyond paying for the tool itself. That''s where his tooling insight was important. He was able to quickly visualize the true potential beyond the scrap reduction in reduced cycle time improvement and the elimination of secondary operations to justify the tooling purchase and process change. What is most significant about Bayview Metal''s use of Mate''s special application tooling is that productivity has been increased dramatically without having to add new punch presses.

Total Productive Maintenance: 5 actions to keep machines at high effeciency.

As I mention before in my previous Total Productive Maintenance article, there are 7 main factors that contribute to machines breakdown. In this article I would like to share how this can be minimized. In Total Productive Maintenance there 5 main agenda or actions that put into focus in order to ensure the machines arerunning as required. The 5 main actions that I will explain are most likely will help to prevent from major breakdown. These actions are involving with basic maintenance, skill and early stage of machine development (design stage).

1. To ensure that the machines are running at high efficiency, basic maintenance is the mot important. We can see this easy by looking our car periodical maintenance as an example. In car maintenance we normally clean our car, change the engine oil periodically and check for any looseness or scratches. This is basic since this activities can be done by ourselves or owner of the car. So for machine maintenance it is almost the same. Where the owner of the machine which most likely the operator as the same as owner of the car shall performs the basic maintenance as the car. Three basic maintenance activities that are perform a cleaning, fill up or change the lubrication and check for any looseness (looseness could cause vibration and it is dangerous). The 3 activities are the foundation of preventive maintenance.

2. Periodical machines inspection and basic activities must be performed with care and deeply detail. It can be performed every day in the morning before start operating. In order this activities are well performed a document such as check sheet and schedule are necessary. Beside daily inspection or basic activities, there are also long periodical maintenance that are done monthly and yearly. It normally performed by qualified or high skill person in addition by a Factory Maintenance section. It sometimes need a high technology tool. It also shall have document to monitor and manage the acti vities. Now a days a systems called Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) software has been widely used to manage such activities. Today there a lots of CMMS software for us to choose.

3. Protect the machines from dirt and unwanted material that could cause fatal to it. As mention above, cleaning is very important to eliminate the unwanted material but there some areas that required severe attention and need frequent cleaning. This areas are most likely to be very sensitive to the unwanted material. So an improvement or kaizen are required to ensure the areas are protected. A good cover or sheild is a good start to protect these areas. With the cover or shield it also will protect the operator from unsafe condition.

4. Minimized the machine weaknesses during design stage. It is important that for new machines, all sections should discussed and informed any weaknesses from current machines so that it shall be eliminated to new machines.

5. Skill up for b oth operator and maintenance personnel. Low skill to the operator could bring to miss-operation and could contribute to machine accident. For your information once a machine involve in accident it is very hard to return to original performance so it is bad for long term operation. Miss-judgment of machine abnormality and miss-replace the correct part to machines are the weakness of maintenance personnel that must be avoided. If this happen the repair time will become longer and will delay the repair schedule.

There are 5 actions required to ensure the machines are operating at optimum. When the 5 actions are performed at very best, operation rate shall be at the best everyday. In Total Productive Maintenance piller this is the foundation to ensure high productivity and low rejection of product.

Discount Granite Countertops

The beauty and warmth of granite makes it an ideal countertop material for aesthetic and practical reasons, in most any kitchen. In addition to his natural strength, granite is a very beautiful stone, color and warmth to expand a room. Although granite are very popular, can not be a homeowner to spend the premium price for granite, or live in an area subject to limitations on resale values. In cases like this, Discount Granite is an attractive option.

Granite is relatively expensive, with prices starting from $ 60 per square meter. The majority of costs are not in the stone itself, but in the collection, transportation, polishing and installation. Typically homeowners will contribute labor on improvements to reduce costs, but the installation of granite should be left to the professionals. However, a large market with a variety of suppliers and significant discounts a price range, which can have any granite at home.

Granite Suppliers usually have three or four groups of granite to choose from. Suppliers are to their groupings or "stages" of numbers. The first stage involves selling premium products, which for the highest price. A stone is grouped based on several criteria, including origin, color, veins or patterns, thickness of the plate, the amount of soft minerals in the rock and fashion trends. Granite from the lower classes has the same beauty and utility as the slabs in the upper groupings. In addition, stones could be harder in a lower level than some stones in a first stage, so it pays to get out and look around.

While granite is from the lower levels, the hardness of granite exhibits known, the presence of softer minerals additional cabinet supports or a penetrating sealant. Thinner cut stone may be a little less than two centimeters instead of the recommended three, if so, can the installation program by laminating plywood to support additional stability. Discount granite suppliers normally deal with a thinner cut stone, an d many suppliers now carry stones that are intentionally cut thin and laminated at the quarry.

Another possibility would be with granite tile countertops. Tiles are made from the same desirable stone as solid granite. All elements of the granite remain the same, with the exception of the size of the granite slabs. Granite tiles, while need special care, can be installed (with the right tools and preparation) by a homeowner.

Granite tiles are laid in the same manner as ceramic tile, with consideration for the additional thickness of the stone. All the countertops in the kitchen can be covered in tile, or a few large stones placed on other countertop surfaces such as Formica. Strategically twenty-four inch granite tiles near the range or oven, placed appealed allow scorching hot pans placed on an otherwise delicate countertop will be. A set thirty-six inch granite tiles in the counter work area serves as an excellent surface for rolling dough and working with confectio nery.

The homeowner on a tight budget has many options for providing a touch of luxury with discount granite. Today, many manufacturers of worktops in the country will reduce the cost of manufacture due to waste and Shipping fees. Although prefabricated countertops are made with thin slices of stone, they are laminated to plywood for strength. Prefabricated pieces are cut to fit also to basic lengths and L-shaped counter layouts of most kitchens are such that, for lower costs for installation in context. Another benefit with prefabricated pieces is that the country generally lower wages for the work that saves much of the installation will have costs.

What You Need To Do To Manage YOURSELF For Optimum Productivity In Your Business

Introduction
Did you notice how I wrote ''optimum'' and not ''maximum''?

The reason is because, especially in the beginning, most people are trying to aim for the sky when they can''t even see the roof.

In order to achieve anything you first need to ensure your goals are achievable.

And that means not aiming too high.

You also need to ensure you are not aiming too low.

That'' what I mean by ''optimum'' - the ideal.

The reason for this report (the first of many to come) is that too many people are trying to start businesses, online or offline, but have no idea how to manage themselves, let alone a business.

Before you can start to manage a business you need to know how to manage yourself.

You need to think clearly about your objectives and your problems.

And you need to arrange your time and space for the best results.

And the only way to do that is by organising yourself.

In fact, this is the most important thing you can do before you do anything else.

Basically, you need to make the most effective use of your time.

Setting Priorities
Now, the question you need to ask yourself is, what is it exactly you should be doing to achieve your goals?

It''s one thing having goals but it''s no use if you don''t know what you should be doing to get there.

Imagine you want to get to the other side of town, a place you''ve never been to before.

What do you need to DO to get there?

Chances are you will check out a map, whether on paper, the internet, wherever.

The fact is, you''d be a little silly to just jump in your car and start driving in any direction, hoping to get there.

That would be silly, wouldn''t it?

So you will look at the map and check out the route, and maybe take the map with you, so you can check it along the the way.

You''ll get in your car, maybe go get some gas if you need it, and then... oh, hold on... you can''t get gas.

Why?

Well, you have to D RIVE there.

That''s part of the DOING process, isn''t it?

Okay, enough flippancy.

You''ve driven to the gas station and got some gas, and then you''ll make your way to your destination.

You''ll follow the route as it is shown on the map and, assuming you follow the correct directions on the map, you''ll get to you destination.

However, before you even look at the map, you will want to find out the address of the place where you''re going to.

In the case of a business, you''ll want to know what it is you want at the end of your journey which, hopefully, will be bucket loads of cash.

So, you need to:

* Write down exactly what it is you want to achieve. Be as specific as possible. * Write down exactly what it is you need to do to achieve your objectives - your task. * And, you have to prioritise those tasks in order of importance. * If you''re able to, financially, decide which of your tasks can be outsourced so you can make better use of your own time. * Begin your task by working on things which are most important - work only on one task at a time. * When you finish each task, go over your list and see if you need to review it to re-prioritise - something that can happen as you''re working through your list.

Planning Your Schedule Ahead Of Time
Allow for things which may crop up from time to time.

It''s possible things may pop up you hadn''t thought of, or didn''t expect.

You never know - these things... they happen, you know.

I know it definitely does happen in business.

An example is if you outsource work - you might get one of your workers calling you up with a problem neither of you expected, etc.

You know what I mean.

It''s called sods law.

So, you plan for everything.

You plan for an ideal, and you plan for things which may not be ideal.

If everything goes according to plan, whoopee do-daa-day.

If not, deal with it as it comes up.

Just make sure you''re ready for any thing... just in case... but don''t let it control your schedule if it doesn''t happen.

Also, make sure you have your own space - maybe a little space you can call your ''office'' even if it''s in the corner of the living room.

And make sure you are not interrupted during your working time.

Let everyone know what you are doing and ask them to respect your time.

And, even more important, respect your own time.

Don''t go off an tangent and start browsing the web or checking emails, or checking out what the latest ''news'' is on the teevee.

It''s Your Time, Manage It
Have you ever watched the Budget on the TV?

Do you know what it is?

I hope so.

Well, just in case you don''t, in a nutshell, it''s how the government allocates the money they steal off you and me to fund their lifestyles.

Okay, I''m being bitter.

Really, it''s supposed to be how they allocate the money to whatever needs to be done.

So, they might say, policing needs $10 billion; health needs $1; catching criminals $1 - if they allocate more, all the politicians will be behind bars.

Whatever.

What I''m trying to say is, in the same way, you need to budget your time.

You need to allocate certain amounts of time for certain tasks.

By doing that, you could save a lot of time by not wasting it.

I''m sure you must have heard the saying - "Time is money".

How true that is. Once time is gone, it''s gone. You''ll never get it back.

And yet, if used wisely, you could be using it to make money instead of losing it.

That''s losing both money and time.

(I''m really educating myself here. I''m so guilty of this).

When you know what it is you need to do, you can allocate the right amount of time to the task.

If you allocate a certain amount of time to a job, you''ll find it easier to get it done in order to meet the deadline.

If you don''t allocate a certain amount of time to the job, I guarantee you will dilly dall y and waste a heck of lot more time on that task than is necessary.

Just imagine someone else is waiting for you and if you don''t finish, you''ll be letting them down.

Now imagine that person is your family and, if you don''t do your work, there''ll no food on the table at the end of the month.

Or just think of something similar to get yourself going.

Tidy Desk, Tidy Mind
One thing I''ve always found useful is to keep my workspace free of clutter.

I also try to file things in the right place so I know exactly where it is when I need it.

The fact is, by organising your workspace, you''ll find it much easier to do your work as you find less distractions around you.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind
I''m sure you may have heard that one before.

How true it is.

I''m pretty guilty of just working, working and working... and not looking after my health.

The funny thing is, I know I was a lot more productive when I was exercising an d keeping healthy.

Why do we never learn, even though we know what''s good for us.

My next task - get on the exercise bike standing next to me desk.

You may prefer something else - yoga, pilates, running, walking - whatever it is, do something to stay fit and healthy.

The fact is, if you have more stamina, you''ll be able to work a heck of a lot better and be more productive.

Not Working At Home In Your Underwear
Look, I know we hear this all the time about how the top ''gurus'' work in their underwear from their kitchen table.

And, for one or two that may be true.

However, for the vast majority, it''s a load of bullshit.

It''s a fact that if you dress according to the job your doing, the better you will so that job.

It''s a fact.

That''s why the army and police and so many other organisations have uniforms.

It''s because it puts you in a certain frame of mind to do the job at hand.

You want to do business at home?

Well, bl oody well dress like a business person - and then tell me it doesn''t make a difference.

The fact is, whatever it is you''re doing, you should be dressed for that.

Try it.

You might even find the very act of dressing accordingly brings out a certain personality trait in yourself you didn''t think you had.

You might turn out to be the next Frank Kern... in a suit... if that''s what you wanna be.

So, Let''s Go Over That Again
1. Get your priorities straight - check 2. Plan what you want to achieve - check 3. Manage your time for the best results - check 4. Get yourself in condition, physically and mentally - check 5. Get your gear on - dress for your businesses - check

If you can organise yourself, you''ll find organising your business much easier.

Get yourself and your time organised, set up routines for the things you can and stick to the job at hand.

Don''t let anything or anyone interrupt you.

Get these things right, however simple t hey may seem, and you''ll see a world of difference.
